WRAP UP #05

Hey, hi, hello!

Are you up for a little catch-you-up? We sure are, so much has happened these past months!

Europe Express

Our winter was rather busy with lots of Wikkelhouses in production. Now Summer is here (at least in our part of the world) and we’re preparing for a serious road trip with stops in places like Antwerp, Helgoland, Corsica and Metz. Honk if you like cardboard homes!

Sustainable, sustainabler, sustainablest

In our ongoing quest to make Wikkelhouse even more sustainable we dived into our famous magic glue. How sustainable is our glue anyway? As it turned out, our super glue is mostly made of plastic. The horror! We set out to correct this omission as soon as humanly possible. In Groningen, a province in the north of the Netherlands, we stumbled upon some likeminded guys and their company named Dynaplak. These guys spent years developing a natural glue based on potatoes. Tasty? Not so much. But Dynaplak’s glue is biodegradable, super strong and long-lasting. We have found an actual magic glue and we can’t be more delighted.

Hello World!

We’re incredibly humbled by all the universal love going out to Wikkelhouse. Can you believe that we’ve received requests from Patagonia to Iran and from Finland to Pakistan? Since shipping Wikkelhouses from Amsterdam to all these far and away places is anything but sustainable, we have to disappoint many of our global fans. We don’t like disappointing people, so we came up with a plan. A wild plan. The plan is to build Wikkelfactories all over the world, so we can serve more fans all over the world. Currently we’re talking with different local partners to make this wild plan happen. Maybe it wasn’t such a wild plan after all, maybe it is just common sense. Coming soon to a continent near you, hello world!

TOP IT UP

Have you ever considered putting your roof space to good use? Why not put a Wikkelhouse up there? Think about it: your space to be, surrounded by blue skies. Endless views… silence. Since our cardboard friend is as light as a feather it’s surprisingly easy to put a Wikkelhouse up on a roof. There’s a rooftop Wikkelhouse in London Hoxton already and soon another rooftop Wikkelhouse will be placed in Amsterdam. We hope more roofs will follow, the sky is the limit, isn’t it?
